Charles Edmond

Charles Edmond was presented with the scottish Samurai award at the Aberdeen Town House on the 9th Ddecember 2016 in front of an enthusiatic audience during the Lectures on Japan evening. 

Charles Edmond holds an M.A from Cambridge , specialising in the Economics of Developing Countries.

 A former Individual Member of the London Stock Exchange, he first went to work in the Far East in 1975 . He opened the Tokyo Representative Office of Hoare Govett in October 1981, 

He was Hon Secretary of the Japan Society of Scotland  from 2006 until 2015.He  worked to raise money for the Japan Red Cross to provide relief  for the victims of the  Tohoku Tsunami of 2011. In recognition of his services to Japan- Scottish relations he was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by Japanese Consul-General Tarahara in June 2012.
